What Is Camzyos Used For?

Camzyos (mavacamten) is a cardiac myosin inhibitor. It is indicated for the treatment of:

  • Adults with symptomatic New York Heart Association (NYHA) class II-III obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), to improve functional capacity and symptoms

It is a prescription cardiology medicine and must be used under the supervision of a qualified cardiologist, with regular echocardiogram monitoring as required by its REMS program (see Warnings section).

Recommended Dosage

  • Starting dose: 5 mg taken orally once daily
  • Dose may be titrated based on response and echocardiogram findings, up to a maximum of 15 mg once daily (available strengths: 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, and 15 mg)
  • Echocardiogram assessment of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) is required before starting treatment and periodically during therapy

This information is not a treatment plan. For personalized medical advice, consult your doctor and refer to the full prescribing information.

Camzyos Warnings and Precautions

Boxed Warning — Risk of Heart Failure: Camzyos reduces left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and can cause heart failure due to systolic dysfunction. Echocardiogram assessments of LVEF are required before starting treatment and regularly during therapy. Camzyos should not be started in patients with LVEF below 55%, and treatment should be interrupted if LVEF falls below 50% at any visit or if heart failure symptoms occur or worsen.

  • REMS program: Camzyos is only available through a restricted distribution program (the CAMZYOS REMS Program). Prescribers, patients, and pharmacies must be certified and comply with monitoring requirements.
  • Drug interactions: Camzyos is contraindicated with strong CYP2C19 inhibitors, and with moderate-to-strong CYP2C19 or CYP3A4 inducers, as these can significantly affect Camzyos levels and heart failure risk. Inform your doctor of all medicines you are taking.
  • Dizziness and syncope: Reported in some patients; caution is advised with activities requiring alertness until the effect of Camzyos is known.

Documentation & Availability

What documents are required to import Camzyos to India?

Camzyos (mavacamten) capsules may be imported in the patient's name only, by patients or government hospitals, in line with India's import regulations for unapproved medicines. The following documentation is required:

  • A valid prescription from a qualified cardiologist
  • The patient's diagnostic reports, including echocardiogram results confirming LVEF
  • Patient ID proof (issued by the Government of India)

How is the order confirmed?

The order is confirmed only after receipt and verification of a valid prescription from the doctor and, if applicable, an import permit.

Is Camzyos available in India?

Camzyos (mavacamten capsules) is a prescription medicine that legally requires a doctor's prescription to be dispensed. As of current publicly available information, Camzyos is not commercially marketed in India.

However, patients in India can legally access Camzyos through the Named Patient Program (NPP) — an import provision that allows a medicine not yet registered in India to be imported in the name of a specific patient for their personal treatment, under a valid prescription.

Camzyos received US FDA approval in 2022, ensuring full transparency throughout the process.

Camzyos can be made available to patients, doctors, and hospitals across major cities in India, including Gurgaon, Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Hyderabad, Mysore, Kerala, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Jaipur, Udaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Chandigarh, Mohali, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kochi, Trivandrum, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kannur, Mangalore, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Ranchi, Raipur, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Goa, Jammu, Srinagar, Dehradun, Bhopal, Indore, Ludhiana, Amritsar, and others — and can facilitate delivery to the patient's treating hospital.
