Odomzo (sonidegib) is an oral hedgehog pathway inhibitor used to treat advanced basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer, in patients who are not candidates for surgery or radiation.
Odomzo is FDA-approved for adult patients with locally advanced basal cell carcinoma that has recurred following surgery or radiation therapy, or who are not candidates for those treatments.
Sonidegib inhibits the Hedgehog signaling pathway by blocking the Smoothened (SMO) protein, which is abnormally activated in basal cell carcinoma and drives tumor growth.
The recommended dose is 200 mg orally once daily on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal, continued until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity, as determined by the treating oncologist or dermatologist.
Boxed Warning — Odomzo: Odomzo can cause embryo-fetal death or severe birth defects when administered to a pregnant woman. Odomzo must not be donated for blood or blood products during treatment and for a defined period afterward.
